On the wake of this Friday, an internet sensation thrilled Kenyans and fans of Ellen Show after she was reunited with family.
Achieng Agutu was surprised by Ellen Degeneres when she brought her parents on the Live show.
Agutu opened up about her stay in the US and how parents catered for her studies.
But why do Kenyans call her a liar?
A Luo. From Kisumu. Learn English from Ellen Show & Cyber café ? Achieng yawa. The lies! She should have even said she learnt New vocabulary from the show. It's easier to locate a school in Kisumu than a cyber café. And English is compulsory from kindergarten. Ama namna gani?— BRAVIN™ (@IamBravin) May 3, 2019
Achieng told Ellen that she learned her English from her show back in Kenya where she could watch songs in her show and google lyrics in a cyber cafe.
How does this become a lie?Achieng Agutu,do you remember your friend who was caught like a rat on the haiweii? 😂😂😂pic.twitter.com/zdPVWJ1GMG— Pye Waw (@pyewaw) May 3, 2019
In Kenya, English is a compulsory subject straight from Nursery school to tertiary level, so there is no point someone can learn it from a cyber.
The second thing is that to get to watch Ellen Show on a TV station in Kenya means that one has to be privileged of which from her story, she was not.In the interview Achieng talks about her parents selling land, taking loans and borrowing cash to educate her...but later she mentions how they are also giving back to the society because they are truly blessed and that they are educating 10 plus kids... pic.twitter.com/EroTRsFQcZ— aleckie ronald (@SirAlexas) May 3, 2019
She added that her family sold land and even borrowed money to help her study but again contradicted with the fact that her parents are ‘blessed’ and support more than ten kids in form of fees, books, and uniforms.
After a lengthy debate on Twitter about her truths and outright lies, her Linkedin profile is out and she studied at Braeburn International school between 2009-2012.
This even contradicts her story more because Braeburn school are for the who is who in the community and English is their primary language.
Here is a screenshot from her Linkedin profile;
But hey, we will cut her some slack since she is winning, unlike our politicians who are looting Kenyan dry.
Here is the full interview in case you missed it;
Do you buy her story, and if yes then why?
