Michael Joseph appointed interim CEO of Safaricom after Bob's demise

Michael Joseph has been appointed the interim CEO of Safaricom following the sudden death of Bob Collymore.

Michael was appointed following a board meeting held on Monday.

According to the statement to the public, Safaricom has appointed the former CEO who is currently the board chairman of the Kenya Airways.

Safaricom Chairman Nicholas Ng'ang'a had told journalists the company already started organizing Bob's succession.

Following the passing on of the Company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Robert (Bob) William Collymore on 1 July 2019, at a Special Board meeting of the Directors’ that was held on even date, the Board resolved to appoint Mr. Michael Joseph, a Board member of the Company, as the interim Chief Executive Officer of the Company with immediate effect.
 Michael Joseph is widely known for the innovation of MPESA which Bob Collymore later broadened to be among the biggest SMEs in the continent.
