Why Kenyans should support Ethic and their street anthems

The street anthems are undoubtfully taking over the music scene in Kenya and wooing the masses.

Sheng, being the language not known to many, it is easy for people to enjoy the vibe with coded language just like how Diamond and Wasafi take over East Africa.

The innovation of gengetone, shrap life, and other street anthems is the way to go in 2019.

Some established artists may seem to have 'lost' it after the invasion by the new generation, but at least they have their brands now.

The biggest group doing rounds now is the Ethic Entertainment and they are representing the hood to the fullest.

Everyone in the streets can sing Ethic's songs word for word and the mainstream media has come into terms with the fact that they are here to stay and have started playing their songs.

Ethic was at the beginning of the year signed under an international record label and from their latest song, it is safe to say they are now going international.

After Ethic's debut to the industry through Lamba Lolo, they opened ways for underground artists and the streets are now banging variety of the music.

Boondocks, Sailors Gang, Ochunglo Family are among the new groups in town giving old artists a run for their money.

But with no doubt, established artists like the Kansoul have been supportive of the upcoming artist which is a positive thing to the debate #PlayKEMusic.

However, there is a loophole in all this good news. The promotors.

Promoters take advantage of the same artists who have crowds and pay them peanuts.

Kenyan artists have never been treated the right way and foreign acts given presidential and high respect as if they run the world.

Hope there comes a time when Kenyan artists can be matched to Diamond or even Drake, hypothetically.
